Iditarod
2003
| In 2003, our city of Fairbanks played unexpected hosts to the world-famous Iditarod Dog Mushing Race. Race officials determined there would not be enough snow in Anchorage to hold the event and moved the race start almost 400 miles north to Fairbanks. Picture standing on a meandering frozen river, holding thousands of spectators, cheering and watching dog teams zip by, and you will know what it was like on the day of the race. Just one of the many exciting benefits of living in Alaska. To see more photographs of Alaska, visit our Alaska Photo Gallery and Alaska Photo Gallery 2. | ||||
