Service penned some of his most sought after poetry while living in Whitehorse, and later, in his log cabin overlooking Dawson City. Many of Service's poems capture the essence of the Klondike Gold Rush and life in the Yukon during the late 1800s.
After the gold rush peaked in Dawson, stampeders journeyd to Nome, Alaska and later settled in Fairbanks. Because of Alaska's shared gold rush history, Service's poems are sometimes recited at venues in the state.
We offer four of Service's top poems for your enjoyment!
